Endorsements
Jonathan Wilson
District Attorney
Durham deserves a district attorney who is present, accountable and focused on public safety. Public reporting and court data raise serious concerns about the performance of the current District Attorney’s Office, including low conviction rates for violent crimes, dismissed firearm cases and failures in case management and victim communication.
These deficiencies point to the need for new leadership and a renewed commitment to accountability and safety.
Jonathan Wilson offers a clear path forward, with a focus on prosecuting serious violent and gun-related offenses, rebuilding trust with victims and the community and restoring confidence in the justice system. Yes for Durham supports Jonathan Wilson because Durham needs leadership that will stand up for public safety.
Clarence Birkhead
Sheriff
Durham needs steady, experienced leadership focused on safety, accountability and results. Sheriff Clarence Birkhead has delivered during a period of real challenges, strengthening operations while maintaining a clear focus on public safety.
Under his leadership, staffing vacancies have declined, pay has been increased to remain regionally competitive and hundreds of deputies are now certified to support detention operations, improving morale and reducing burnout. He has also prioritized proactive crime prevention through visible patrols and data-driven initiatives that target violent crime.
With a commitment to transparency, collaboration and responsible leadership, Sheriff Birkhead has shown he can lead under pressure. Yes for Durham supports Clarence Birkhead because Durham deserves experienced leadership that keeps our community safe.
Vote for a Safer Durham
The 2026 primary election is fast approaching, and the stakes for Durham could not be higher!
